The Intelligent Systems Research Center was established in 2019 to tackle interdisciplinary research problems related to artificially intelligent systems. Such systems have become ubiquitous, powerful, and of great value to humans in a vast number of areas such as health care, industry, assistive technologies, transportation, entertainment, social media, and education. The center aims at:
- Launching new academic programs
- Promoting research in related areas
- Contributing in creating new highly-paid jobs in Palestine
- Enhancing the awareness of local community of the importance of AI, it challenges and opportunities, and debating about related critical societal issues
- Advocating and facilitating the introducion AI or similar courses in existing program curricula at the university level
- Advocating and facilitating the use of intelligent technology in university administrative and educational systems and in the classroom
- Contributing in intelligent technology transfer to Palestine
